Hi guys! So today I don’t have too much to write about but I did want to tell you about my day. Today started out pretty chill as my days off usually do. Today turned out to be a bit different because a good friend of ours was able to get the BF and I tickets to go see Rent with him. It was at the Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia, just about an hours drive from Huntington where we live. We arrived in Charleston a little after 6 and the show started at 7:30. We found a little bar across from the Clay Center that was really nice. They had really tasty drinks and the people were very friendly. Then came the show. We had very good seats. They were a bit high but they were center so it worked well. I really loved the show. I had never seen the play or the movie. It was right up my alley because I love musicals and myself being a Pansexual have always been a big LGBTQ supporter. I cried at the end. I won’t tell you why in case you haven’t seen it but I’m always an emotional wimp with plays and movies. It’s funny actually because the last play I saw was La Boem at the Keith Albee Theater here in Huntington. Well guys we got back from the show pretty late and I have work in the morning, so I will be back tomorrow, Bye!
Hi guys! So the re-organizing of my blog did not go as planned lol but I still am going to do at least 1 cooking blog a week and one K-Pop song a week. I did get my tax money but I haven’t ordered my ancestry kit yet because some bills and other things came up. I am going to do it but maybe not as soon as I would like. I wanted to give you guys an update on that, but the main thing I wanted to talk about today is gardening. It’s officially Spring where I am now and I’m super happy. For one, I hate the cold. I welcome the days when its warm enough to walk outside of my house without a jacket. For another, I want to do some gardening. I planted a couple roses last year and they are doing good so far. I want to do a lot more though. We already get some Easter Lilies in the backyard. I’m not sure if someone planted them there before, or it they just grow there naturally but I want to plant some more all along that same area. I also want to do a row of tulips next to my house. I also want to plant some veggies in my backyard but that’s not as likely because we don’t have a fence and our neighborhood has a pretty serious stray cat issue. Also there’s these kids that live next door and run crazy without real supervision. I keep mentioning that I want to put up a fence, but its just one of those things we haven’t gotten around to. I really hope that we will actually do it this year, for the plants and also because we are considering getting another dog and I would like to have an area where it could play without a leash. I still wouldn’t let it out there that often though just because the cats still might climb the fence lol. So back to the plants, in our front yard we have a honeysuckle bush right in front of the house. I’m considering planting another one next to our back door. I’m also looking into doing a in indoor herb garden. I feel like fresh herbs would make my food a lot better. I also do spiritual work that could use some fresh ingredients. Well I will keep you guys updated on this in writing and possibly photos. I will be back tomorrow, bye guys!
So guys I’m going to start doing a k-pop song of the week blog! It’s basically to tell you guys more about the songs I’m into right now, and just to tell you more about K-pop in general. So this weeks song comes by request of my BF who has been loving this band and this song in particular as of late. The song is Whistle by BlackPink. First to tell you about BlackPink. They are a Korean girl group consisting of 4 girls. The girls are Jennie , Lisa (which is the BF’s Favorite), Jisoo , and my personal favorite Rose. They debuted August 8, 2016 with their album Square One. They are managed by the Korean entertainment company YG that previously managed a band called 2NE1 if you’re familiar. So this song is super catchy and fun and the video is really fun too. Here is a link to the video. Check it out and let me know what you think!
Hey guys so this a recipe I made today for an oyster/seafood stew. It’s a really good recipe and it’s really flexible as far as ingredients. First I want to say as a disclaimer, I did NOT make this from scratch this was originally a recipe I found on the food network site from Wolfgang Puck that I altered heavily(like adding potatoes, cream and a few other twists)
- 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) plus 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup chopped white onions
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 2 cups half n half 1 cup milk (if shrimp, or ham/chicken version)
- 2 cups milk, ½ cup half n half (oyster version)
- 2 dozen oysters, shucked, drained and reserve liquid or 1 lbs pre-cooked salad shrimp per 2 people
- Salt and cayenne
- Fresh black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
- 1/4 cup chopped finely chopped parsley
- 1 chopped potato per person
- Roughly 1 cup mushroom of your choice
Chop then boil potatoes for 15 minutes in a few inches of water in a skillet on high heat. Set aside. In a large saute pan, melt the 4 tablespoons butter. Stir in 2 tbsp of the flour, stirring constantly and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Add the white onions, green onions, celery and mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the milk, half n half and oyster liquid for oyster version. If doing shrimp or seafood version pour in half and half and milk. Season the mixture with salt, cayenne and black pepper. Bring the liquid up to a simmer. Simmer the liquid for 3 to 4 minutes. Add the oysters or shrimp, potatoes, garlic and parsley. With the addition of the ingredients you may need the remaining tbsp of flour for thickening. Stir this in well and continue to season as needed. Bring the liquid back up to a simmer and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the oysters curl. Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons butter and remove from the heat. This recipe is for two, feel free to amend the portions for a great family meal. Serve with your choice of crackers or garlic bread.
I hope you guys like this recipe, if you try it out, let me know what you thought. Bye Guys!
Hi guys! So if you can’t tell, I’m super happy that I don’t have to be at work again for 3 days. Especially considering how work went today. Today they broke the news to us that we, going forward, will no longer be in the same department we are in now, and we start training for the new department next week. It’s not all bad because apparently there’s a pay raise involved. It’s just super stressful because it means we do about 3 weeks of training and then have to bid for a shift. That’s the main part I’m worried about because me and the BF have been lucky to keep this same schedule and I don’t drive lol so if we get stuck with different shifts it will be a serious issue. Hopefully we will get a good shift. I will keep you guys updated because depending on what shift we get it may affect my writing schedule.
It’s pretty annoying but I am not hating the shift we have for training. 8-4:30 is great. Granted I am the exact opposite of a morning person, but to have a whole evening will be pretty nice. I’ll have time to make actual meals, and do stuff before I have to go to bed. This weekend should be pretty great. I’m hoping to go to our local museum because they have free admission on Tuesdays which is awesome. Hopefully its not raining tomorrow again because I would like to ride on my BF’s motorcycle because our local museum is on a long winding road that’s really fun to ride. I also have the usual trivia games and I’m ordering the ancestry kit. I most likely won’t get it this week, but am excited to start the process. Something else I wanted to mention, a few months ago I backed a project on kickstarter by Glamour Dolls Makeup. If you haven’t heard, they are doing a collaboration with Lisa Frank and its making all 10 yr old me’s dreams come true. If your not familiar with Lisa Frank she is a designer that designs super cute colorful things . I’ve loved her merchandise since I was little so to think that there will be adult Lisa Frank items is so very exciting. The products are not set to ship out until September but when they do… my life will be complete. So tomorrow I plan on taking some time to re-design my page like I mentioned yesterday, and post my first cooking blog. So stay tuned for some yummy goodness. Bye Guys!
Hi guys! So first I wanted to say how grateful I am to have 5 followers! Thanks guys it means a lot to me! It also got me thinking. My blogs have been a little all over the place. So I’m considering redesigning my page to have different areas for different topics I write about. My writing will cover an area, as well as makeup and DIY stuff. I’m also considering making a section about cooking because I’ve been experimenting with a lot of new recipes lately that I would want to share. I’m also probably going to start writing about the Korean music I listen to maybe like a song of the week kind of thing. I will probably put this together tomorrow or Tuesday depending on I my schedule tomorrow. I have work as usual, and then our Monday pathfinder game with the BF and our friends. So I’ll still write tomorrow but the reorganizing may just be put off until Tuesday. Also something I’m excited about, in a couple days I get my tax refund and am planning to buy the Ancestry DNA kit. I’ve always been curious about where my family comes from. I’ve heard that I’m part German, part Cherokee native american, but my sources are my parents making guesses at best. It’s not their fault, in this area its not easy to find out things like that. So I’m really excited about what my results might be. I’ll be telling all my family, and I’ll be putting it here to tell you guys more about me, and also just my experience with the kit itself in case any of you are curious about it. So what are your thoughts? What kind of stuff would you like to read about? Let me know in the comments, I would really appreciate the feedback. I’ll be back tomorrow, Bye Guys!
Hi Guys! So today I wanted to talk about makeup. Throughout my life I have had a love/hate relationship with makeup. When I was a kid I had no interest in it other that some of it smelled like candy. As soon as I learned that it did not also taste like candy I lost interest. I never really bothered with makeup again until high school. In high school I adapted the typical emo and or goth looks of the time. My makeup consisted of black eyeliner and black lipstick, and black nail polish that was it. I didn’t bother with foundation or any of the other basics. I think it also needs pointed out that in my teens I was lucky enough to not be stricken with the awful acne a lot of people had. So I did not see a need for all the coverage. I just wanted darkness lol. Once I was out of high school I started to take more consideration to my make up because I started going out with my friends to shop and go clubbing. I still at this point only bought drug store level makeup because growing up poor, having that mindset, it seemed ridiculous to me to spend more than like $20 on a tiny container of makeup. As of about 3 or 4 years ago my acne finally caught up with me, and it was not kidding around. Its just gotten worse since then and it feels ridiculous to be an adult with the kind of acne problem I have. As of recently I’ve been trying to be more conscious about my appearance and the health of my skin. I have been washing my face a lot more and exfoliating regularly. I know this sounds like skin care basics, but I’ve been in the dark for a while lol. I’ve also been doing research in using better quality products. I’ve already made sure most of my makeup is cruelty free, what I could find and afford that is. I have to admit its still really hard for me to justify buying the more expensive products even though theoretically they are better formulated and better for me skin. Its hard to get over being cheap lol. I’m also considering better products for my hair as well. I never used to have any issues with my hair, but as of about 6 months ago I started developing awful split ends. It still doesn’t make any sense to me because I haven’t dyed it in over 4 years, and I don’t use heat products or sprays or anything. It’s like my body decided to look good in high school and just let everything fall apart in the real world lol. Its a learning experience that’s for sure. If you guys know of or are using any products that are good for these issues, definitely let know. Well guys, I’m headed to bed I’ll be back tomorrow, Bye!
